This thread on the Braveheart Forum may shed some light on the date and time of the WOSCA meeting:

Hi folks,

Chatting to Edd Shackley yesterday and he has booking forms for the Glasgow Riderz and he is putting them in now. Also from the info Neil found out, there are 2 qualified track coaches at Ivy (Edd and Andrew) so that could save £60 on a 2 hour session.

Think a lot of interest in supporting a slot from a number of the North Side local clubs - not sure next steps.

Terence has his eye on the 1 km outdoor track for some criteriums - nice!

Has anyone any idea when the accreditation sessions will take place and what are the arrangements for booking a place?
I feel in asking this I must have missed some vital information given that we are so close to "lift- off" in October. The more people accredeited the greater will be track usage

Some more info from Vortex:

www.vortexraceteam.co.uk/Vortex_RT_Site/...s_Hoy_Velodrome.html

Would suggest a Wed or Thurs evening booking if the demand is there from Gales, Ivy, GJS and possibly one other club for a training evening. It's likely once we are accredited then the race leagues will start up on a Friday night.

It would also be good to get an idea of members from each club who wish to get accreditaion to run the sessions. I think Willie Laithwaite from the Ivy has done the course but not sure if this was at an indoor velodrome?

Re:New Velodrome Information 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Folks,
I attended a meeting last night of WOSCA (west of Scotland cycling association). The main topic of the meeting was the new velodrome. Unfortunately i am not sure I will be able to shed much more light than has already been detailed on this forum. It is clear that there is much that is still to be published.
WOSCA have produced a proposal to run a Friday night track league. Scottish cycling have booked time in the velodrome (the only time that has been booked to date) on a Wednesday night for a track league. There was much heated debate last night as to who should be running the track leagues and this has to be ascertained. Scottish cycling have a strategy for the use of the velodrome, however this is currently in draft form and has yet to be ratified by their board. They were therefore unable to share this last night. Further, there were many questions arising from the meeting that could only be answered by Glasgow life (who will run the velodrome), unfortunately they were not at the meeting.
The meeting ended with scottish cycling committing to come back to wosca with their proposals for the velodrome use. Should wosca not be satisfied with the approach, I think it likely that wosca will approach Glasgow life separately to scottish cycling with proposals to run a track league.
There have been a couple of questions on the forum that I'll answer below. However please be aware that with 6 weeks to the opening of the velodrome there are many questions that nobody knows the answer to and I guess we will just have to be patient until details are published.

Brian you asked a question about accreditation
No, you've not missed anything. The expectation is that the first three months of velodrome will almost exclusively given over to accreditations. You are not able to use the track without accreditation so Glasgow life will be keen to build their user base as much as possible. Getting accreditation is a three stage process, this is outlined in earlier posts. It is likely that this will be the same process as that used by Manchester velodrome (check their website for details).
How do you book accreditation? I don't know I'm afraid. I am waiting to hear that too!
It is interesting to note that apparently you will not need an accreditation to ride in the track leagues. I find that difficult to believe, however that was the general consensus at the meeting last night (although that did not come from Glasgow life so that needs to be confirmed)

Jamie
You asked about getting involved in track cycling. All the information that I have is posted up on the forum. There are still a number of things to sort out, and everyone is waiting patiently for Glasgow life to publish more details. I would advise keeping a close eye on the Glasgow life website and this forum as soon as I hear anything I will keep you posted.
The first step in riding the track will be getting accredited. That takes a few trips to the velodrome and the first few months of opening will be taken up with getting accreditation. For that reason I wouldn't worry too much. There will be no huge benefit to being the first person to get accreditation, as you will probably need to wait until the new year until anything other than accreditation happens.
Please feel free to give me a call or send me a message either via the forum or through the email facility on the website, if you have any further questions.

Paul from the ivy, John from gjs
Yes, I think that a joint track booking is the way forward. There was talk last night that in Manchester they have track leagues running three nights (Monday, wed and Friday). These run from 7-10 and there is promotion and relegation between the leagues. When you take into account that they also run different training sessions, ie one night they might run a pursuit training session, one night a Kierin and one night a sprint session. There will be little other room for other bookings. In Manchester single clubs don't tend to book sessions but club together, however others just make use of the set sessions that are on offer.
May I suggest that we meet over the next couple of weeks to discuss this? What are your thoughts?

Cheers
Neill

Re:New Velodrome Information 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Thanks for the feedback Neill. Things seem to be progressing well. I tend to agree that anyone wishing to ride in the track league should be accredited. Track racing is so different to the road (as you well know) so we all need to know the "highway code" and have passed the `driving test`
A hundred years ago I used to ride a weekly track league and `roadies` used to turn up Apart from the usual rivalry between the two clans there was some serious competition especially if a trackie had "stolen" a sprint in a recent road race.
Exciting times ahead!

Hi Neil - very comprehensive. Appreciate the time you have taken. Will chat to Ivy on Thursday to get a feel for numbers. Can think of 10 people off the top of my head, maybe more but not sure how regular. Getting quite a few calls from people outside the club wanting to take part in this.

How good is this, what a great place to be in - fantastic cycling results, TdF winner, Sir Chris Hoy in the olympics, and someone has just gone and built a multi-million pound state of the art velodrome on our doorstep.... and its got a 1km outdoor crit track .... and its all for us

Am I dreaming.......

Re:New Velodrome Information 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Just had an email from Jake Lovatt from Glasgow Life (they own the velodrome). I have copied it below.

Gentlemen I’ve been made aware of a number of issues re the velodrome – NO ONE HAS BOOKED AND PAID FOR ANY TIME ON THE TRACK. SC have simply proposed a track league on the Wednesday night and so far management here at the velodrome are happy to programme that when payment and logistics are sorted out. I apologise for not being available to attend the WOSCA meeting Monday, I have a very busy job as you can imagine and I have a young family who I like to see from time to time. More details will be finalised regarding the pricing and timetabling over the next few weeks, I hope to then call a meeting of interested parties to discuss as many issues as we can in one evening. Please try and refrain from speculation until then.
