Famous last words indeed regarding Wednesday's supposed weather. I recall vividly, and niavely, the eve that "Ronnie the Weather" informed all potential Arran trippers that, with the wind forecast to shift for midday, the breeze could be on their backs the whole way round. The rest is history.

I can't speak much Italian but I am sure I picked-up the Giro commentators saying this year was like cycling in b&£$%y Scotland

Wind, rain and/or shine hope to see you there Wednesday.

Hi,
Just to let anyone interested in the art of the long distance cyclist.
Cheers
Roy

My name is Hilary Marshall and I am writing to you on behalf of a charity that I am involved with called Orkidstudio - www.orkidstudio.co.uk.
Our patron is Mark Beaumont the cyclist and adventurer. He is hosting a talk on Thursday 30th May at the SECC as a fundraiser for the charity. He will be talking about his adventures to date and projects in the pipeline. He is a very inspirational and motivational speaker and we wondered if you could possibly post details about this event on your website / through your newsletters to members/ facebookpage?

The talk will take place at the SECC (7.30pm) and will be an unforgettable evening in aid of a fantastic cause. Tickets are priced at £14 (£12 concessions) and can be bought through the SECC box office using the following link : www.ticketsoup.com

Let me know if you can help

Kind Regards

Dr Hilary Marshall ( fundraising committee member)

Trackies (in the club) will know already that the Worlds will be held in Manchester from 6th until 12th Oct 2013

I have heard from a reliable source that the Europeans will be held in Newport in September. As soon as I hear the dates I will post here if there is any response to this posting

If you have not ridden at Newport it differs from Manchester and Glasgow in that it has shorter straights and longer turns - ideal for pursuiters but not the preference of sprinters

To my shame I have not ridden the Hoy track but watching it on TV I got the impression it has pretty tight turns. Is this so? And is there a whiplash effect coming out of the turn? I know the answer - go and find out which I shall do but forewarning can be a good thing

Folks,
I am away this weekend, so cant help out at the Crow road race, however can I encourage you to lend a hand if you are able. We may well need to call in some favours to put our races on this season.

Also, I noticed on the Braveheart forum that the Neilston Nocturne event on the 5th of June has a healthy field of 70 riders. However, there are a large number of non WoSCA organising clubs among the entries. As an organising club we get priority, so you should be sure of getting an entry. It would be good to see a number of Gales jerseys in the field. So get your entries in if you havent already.

SUnday 0830 it was. Ok maybe 0836 as the dog chased me down the road and I had to do a U turn to return her home.

Good circuit for some tough efforts, and done by 0930.

Same time next week, but I think I will be skipping it and racing in Kilmacolm.

I received some sad news from Club member, Alex Smith, to-day. His daughter, Elizabeth (Revie), has died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home. She is survived by her husband, Graham, and her son, Fraser.

For those who wish to attend, there will be a service in St Helens Parish Church, Bonnybridge, at 2.15pm on Tuesday, 30th April, going on to Livingston Crematorium at 4pm.

I'm sure I speak for all the Club in sending our condolences to Alex and Jean and their two other children, Yvonne and Gordon.
